How to Upgrade Windows 7?

Here’s what you need to know about upgrading from Windows 7 or 8:

Step 1: Download the latest version of Microsoft Office

  • This can be found under Start.
  • Search for “Office” in the search results.
  • For Home users, this would be C:\Windows\Applications\Office.
  • For Pro users this is C:\Windows\Applications\Office\20C.

Step 2: Launch the Settings app

  • On your computer select System
  • Then select Control Panel.
  • Then Click on Update & Security.

Step 3: Download

  • Select your OS.
  • Then click Next.
  • Go directly to the download page.

Step 4: Select the File

  • Read the instructions provided by Microsoft so as not to force-install software.
  • This will overwrite any older applications which you may have on your existing PC.
  • Once the installation is complete, restart your PC (if necessary), and select the file you want to change or remove.

Step 5: Click Next on the screen which reads:

  • Note down the username (of your choice).
  • Then open “Download WinZip here”.
  • If you do not have an account, sign up with one.
  • You don’t need a public account anyway so just leave yours at home and move onto another account.

Step 6: Download WinZip

  • Now the installer asks you to download WinZip and extract WinZip and install WinZip on your computer.
  • Keep on following the instructions and if anything seems wrong then double-check your settings.
  • Ensure that you copy WinZip to other locations so that you don’t mess up settings when switching between computers or during migration.
  • When prompted, click Yes to WinZip to start the WinZip installation.

Step 7: Save Unzipping to Upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10

  • Select the zip size you want to include and continue the process.
  • A small WinZip window pops up on the right side.
  • There are usually no additional issues with WinZip so you should be set up and move on to another option.
  • Then select the folder you want to save WinZip into and begin the WinZip installation.
  • Again, avoid clicking Choose More than once.
  • On the next screen choose the date of last modified and “Keep changes or delete.”
  • The final step reads “Save Unzipping”.

While most probably won’t be needed when migrating to the newest version, these few things can help you better navigate your way through the transition in a smooth manner.

Upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 11

Windows 11 has been around for quite a while now and its huge release promises a lot to offer when it comes to productivity and accessibility.

The latest versions boast several new functionalities and other changes including split screens, advanced tools for monitoring battery power (like WPS) and network activity, improved security measures such as BitLocker encryption, enhanced protection against malware, and expanded support for virtual reality technologies like Oculus VR headsets.

I believe that new versions will bring further innovation, making working with different devices and using multiple services simple with ease. You can check out our comprehensive guide on How Windows 11 works.

Features of Upgrading Windows 11

  1. There will be lots of useful features for beginners and professionals alike, including the ability to easily switch between three separate desktops (you can still create one) and create two monitors if you have multiple screens.
  2. The biggest change for me personally is being able to run both Virtual Desktop environments on my main machine. I can enjoy using VDI for video editing, watching movies on Hulu, or a little bit of streaming media without interrupting my workflow – and the same goes for gaming on the second monitor.
  3. Also included with the new releases is the possibility to customize the look and feel of multiple windows within your workspace. This will probably require you to set aside your computer at least temporarily because once you use Multi-Monitor Mode it’s really hard to switch back to Standard Mode.
  4. Another big feature of Windows 11 includes the ability to manage and configure various resources and permissions between each workstation.
  5. An essential feature of new releases is to provide a new interface that gives control to you whenever you want to make a decision and take action. Let’s take a deeper look.
  6. Windows 11 will allow you to connect two external displays or two internal partitions via a USB stick.
  7. One aspect that I think could improve is the performance. As mentioned earlier, Microsoft did a fantastic job implementing this functionality.
  8. You can also enjoy the built-in voice assistant Cortana and the universal remote support with Windows 11. Both are some of my favorites and I am looking forward to testing out their capabilities.
  9. Another major thing is Microsoft finally provides a taskbar button in addition to the usual left corner navigation. This type of button is extremely helpful, especially for web browsing or running Chrome extensions.

Conclusion

It is safe to upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10, but if you do, be sure to follow the steps above. You will likely find a lot of new and exciting features that should ease your transition into the future. With all of this information in mind, you should be good to go and ready to get up and running with your new operating system…
